MD Practice 05 - Summer kitsch straw hat

Hello everyone, the past month I worked on creating 3 real-time / game ready hats as a practice and this one is the 1st finished one. The goal this time was to work more freely, so instead of trying to replicate 1 reference I got inspiration from multiple references and combined them with materials and textures that I like to experiment and create something fun.

Nevertheless, to create this straw hat I followed a step by step hat construction manual I found in Pinterest called "Lessons of Modern Millinery No.5 by MLLE. MIRABELLA - Hats 1902". To understand how hats work in MD I purchased the Marvelous Designer Hats tutorial by Travis Davids on gumroad and specifically followed the Boater hat tutorial (also available on artstation ^^! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/28zJoB). I can totally recommend the purchase if you want a deeper understanding in MD for creating hats and his tutorials are very easy to follow!^^

It was quite challenging to switch from a vfx/ cgi workflow into the game workflow but I learned a lot of new stuff and still have more to learn :) . I set my max polycount limit for this practice to 30k and ended up with about 24k polys after triangulation ^^.
Lastly, I would like to thank my brother, my friends, and all the nice ppl from the discord servers who took the time to answer my questions regarding the workflow and also gave me lots of great feedback! I'll continue to work harder and make the next 2 hats better by implementing all the new stuff I learned ! ☁╰( * ´ ︶ ` * )╯☁!
